Southwestern BC: Cool this evening, with the temperature near 7 degrees. A stray shower is possible this evening, into tonight.
Okanagan: Just like the South Coast, showers expected this evening. Temperatures just above freezing expected.

Southwestern BC: REST OF THIS WEEK: Warming up as a heat ridge sets itself up just south of the border, temperatures expected to reach around middle 20s by the ned of the week.
THE WEEKEND: The main heat day will be Sunday July 8th, as the upper high sits itself over Northern California brings up the highs around low to middle 30s.
Okanagan: As the upper high makes it way through the Pacific Northwest, temperatures are expected to remain near the low to middle 30s during the rest of the week through weekend. EARLY
NEXT WEEK: The temperatures increase as the ridge moves closer towards the interior. The high expected at Osoyoos on Tuesday July 9 is 41 degrees.
Going to be a nice weekend, make sure to drink lots of water and to use sunscreen. If you feel unwell consider taking a break from the current activity. Try to limit strenuous activity during this heat event.

In Southern BC, we had much of the day filled with rain, but good news it is going away for a bit!
Southwestern BC: For tomorrow the rain diminishes overnight, then cloudy with the highs around 15-20.
THE WEEKEND: The forecast is calling for a cloudy Saturday and a rainy Saturday night into Sunday morning. On Sunday a mix of sun and clouds is expected.
NEXT WEEK/CANADA DAY: For the next week, sun is the headline with a pleasant Canada Day. Mix of sun and clouds from Monday through Wednesday, with the highs reaching 22.
Okanagan: Tomorrow, stray showers are expected but mainly mix of sun and clouds, the high 26.
THE WEEKEND: Mainly the same forecast as Metro Vancouver and Victoria: The forecast is calling for a cloudy Saturday with the high of 27. On Sunday a mix of sun and clouds is expected and the high 26.
NEXT WEEK/CANADA DAY: For the next week, sun is the headline with a pleasant Canada Day. Mix of sun and clouds from Monday through Wednesday, with the highs reaching 23 on Monday and 26 on Tuesday and Wednesday.

WEATHER UPDATE: Looking at the radar right now, no rain around the region right now (just noise on radar). There is no more rain in the forecast anymore until about mid next week.
TODAY: Overcast conditions are expected with some clearing late in the afternoon. The high will be around 9-10 degrees.
IN THE COMING DAYS: The temperatures will continue to gradually rise, as a warm front, off the coast, pushes closer towards land.
FOR TOMORROW, a couple of clouds are expected, the high 11.
FRIDAY: Temps are increasing to around 15 degrees with more clearing of the clouds. The high expected to remain near 15-16 degrees.
THIS WEEKEND: The warmest weather is expected, with the highs pushing around 17 degrees across the area. The warm front pushes through on Saturday bringing the wonderful temperatures.
ON THIS DATE IN 1913: A major tornado outbreak struck much of the southern United States on March 13, 1913, with tornadoes killing numerous people in parts of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. The most violent tornado in Alabama moved through parts of Clarke and Wilcox counties; 27 people were killed in the community of Lower Peach Tree. Three children were killed by a tornado at Florence.

A look at the radar right now shows mainly dry conditions, scattered rain showers this morning, with showers moving in this afternoon.
Rain continues to be in the forecast for the weekend! If you are planning to head somewhere this weekend, bring an umbrella, and a jacket. Normal temperatures for this time of year, the high 10 and the low 3. This weekend, we will stay about 5 degrees below normal.
TODAY: Plenty of rain, the US Storm Prediction Centre has outlined most of the West Coast under a ‘General Thunderstorm’ risk. A stray thunderstorm is possible up here, but they will generally stay south of the border.
TONIGHT: We are expecting near freezing temperature, on seasonal for the nightly low, about 2-3 degrees. Rain continues throughout the night.
THE WEEKEND: 5 degrees will be the daytime high, with rain. Temperature 5-7 during the daytime, and the nightly low will be 2-3 degrees.
NEXT WEEK: Starting on Monday, the rain ends and sunshine returns! Temperatures return to normal, ~10 degrees, but the nightly low remains just under freezing.
Global BC Visit
On Feb. 24th, 2023 I got the chance to visit the Global BC Studios and meet the Global News Morning team. It was a really fun experience to see how the program is made!
I spent most of my time with BC's Chief Meteorologist Mark Madryga, who showed me around and how the weather sausage was made. I learned so much more about the broadcast side of things and also the weather side of things. It was really fun to talk to Mark and the team.
I want to thank Mark, and everyone at Global BC for having me there. I surely had a blast.
